We Are
A pop-up platform for XL art installations and huge design objects, brought to you by a blend of established artists and designers as well as upcoming talents. Every autumn BIG ART occupies an iconic building in or around Amsterdam where dozens of artists and designers fill the place with a unique mix of monumental paintings, oversized drawings, large sculptures, big photos and installations. On show, and for sale!
Our Story
BIG ART is an initiative of Anne van der Zwaag, the director and owner of designfair OBJECT Rotterdam. Anne works as a curator, writer and consultant in the creative as well as the commercial industries. She created large interdisciplinary exhibitions such as BAL! (Paleis Soestdijk), WIT (Nederlands Fotomuseum), PASTOE (Kunsthal) and wrote several publications on design, art, fashion, architecture and colour. Anne is active in many boards, jury’s and advise committees and is a guest tutor at art and design schools in the Netherlands and abroad. BIG ART originated in 2016 and is organised yearly by her dedicated team of art professionals and design lovers in collaboration with a loyal group of partners.
