From April 12 to May 10, 2026, Joyce Overheul will exhibit at Art Gallery O-68 with the solo exhibition “DIT NOOIT MEER’ (“NEVER AGAIN”. “DIT NOOIT MEER” showcases textile works from recent years, addressing subjects such as inequality, abuse of power, women’s rights, feminism, and emancipation. Growing up in a family of artisans, Overheul has been working with fabric, needle, and thread from a young age. Using soft materials, she wraps hard subjects in her work—subjects she herself encountered from an early age while growing up in the Dutch Bible Belt. From femicide to genocide, it is proclaimed that we should never want this to happen again, yet we stand by and watch without taking action, until history repeats itself. From the murder of 17-year-old Lisa from Abcoude (NL), the genocide in Palestine, and the war in the Middle East, to domestic violence that many women face: for Overheul, the ways in which we, as humanity, deal with these issues are inextricably linked. There will be a great deal of new work on display, including an interactive tapestry about various recent wars. Parts of military weaponry have been incorporated into the tapestry itself. At the time of writing, work on this tapestry is still ongoing, meaning, the work will have its premiere during this exhibition. Other new works on display address subjects such as femicide, the rise of the radical right in the Netherlands, and the megalomaniacal behavior of the US President.

Joyce Overheul (1989) is a socially engaged visual artist with a studio in Utrecht. Through her work, she holds up a mirror to society regarding ingrained behavioral patterns and why everyone suffers from them. Her work has reached a wide audience. Overheul has had three solo museum exhibitions: Centraal Museum Utrecht, Museum Weert, Museum De Fundatie, and the Fenix ​​Museum also owns a work by her: ‘Ter Apel’, 2023..
